Seeds of Hope is a set of 3 paintings, made on recycled canvases that were previously demonstration pieces used for teaching in my classes, so each piece carries earlier marks and layers beneath the surface. I’ve used heat-reactive pigments that shift from purple to pink in response to warmth, reflecting global warming and environmental change. Wildflower seeds are embedded within the works, using a water-based sealant, allowing the possibility of germination beyond the artwork’s intended lifespan, when it ultimately ends up in landfill.
This series is about renewal, that life will find a way to return, even after all the damage that humans have done to the world.
Using these paintings as start images, I also created a music video, which you can view at https://youtu.be/aUSsCO1qd5k?si=Sj3SCnuxRtIsVk0Q
